A follow up to The Avengers was going to be inevitable after the huge success of the first instalment. Whedon’s production made more than $1.5bn worldwide making it the third highest grossing movie of all time after Avatar and Titanic.

After many rumours circulating about who will be making an appearance in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and who we want to see, Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed one of his new co-stars as Elizabeth Olsen. Olsen will take on the role of The Scarlet Witch.

The character is the alter-super-ego of Wanda Maximoff, who first appeared in Marvel’s comics on X-Men#4 in 1964, and it the daughter of Magneto.

The role will be a step away from the thought-provoking indie roles that Olsen has chosen as she embarked on her career as a serious actress. She portrayed a damaged youngster in Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene who finds herself wrapped up in cult happenings in an inexplicable prelude to her recovery.

Olsen certainly oozes sex appeal which will likely be essential for the role; The Scarlet Witch was ranked 14th in Comics Buyer’s Guide’s “100 Sexiest Women in Comics” list.

What’s left to be established here is the question: is she to be a super-hero or a super-villain?
