Good News for ‘Stella’!

The Sky 1 comedy series Stella stars Ruth Jones as a 40-something mum juggling the ups and downs of family life amid the chaos of her eccentric friends, relatives and children’s fathers.

Stella Sky1The 13-part second series completed shooting recently using the Arri Alexa camera from ICE Films. Manager Roland Keane said, “the shoot went extremely smoothly, with the new digital formats customers are able to work with their material very quickly and therefore speed up the entire production process.”

The Alexa offers a subtle dynamic range that Roger Deakins, cinematographer for Skyfall and No Country for Old Men, believes is as close to film as anything. You can rent Arri Alexa cameras from Aimimage for as little as £1085 a day.

Sky1 Sets Premiere Date For ‘Stella’ Season 2

The second season of Sky1’s home-grown series Stella will premiere on Friday January 11th at 9pm, it has been announced. The series has already been renewed for a third season and Sky1 has ordered a Christmas special, which is set to air in 2013 ahead of season 3.

Stella was co-created by, and stars, Ruth Jones as the titular character and revolves around her often troubled life in Pontyberry, South Wales. The down-to-earth family saga which gives an authentic slice of the working-class Welsh Valleys debuted as the second biggest UK comedy launch in multichannel history. Also starring in the comedy series is Craig Gallivan, Catrin Stewart, Rory Girvan, Justin Davies, Elizabeth Berrington, Owen Teale, Julian Lewis Jones, Karen Paullada, Steve Speirs, Paul Kaye, Kenny Doughty and Mark Lewis Jones.
